A Dance With Dragons now has a publication date. And the TV series starts in April. I’ll have to reread a few thousand pages before starting Dance or I won’t be able to follow it. And I still have the Patrick Rothfuss sequel to read. And I’ll need to reread the first one of those too 🙂

The Killing
After ten weeks The Killing ended last night with a satisfying finale and a teaser for the next series to be shown later this year.
I have to say it again – a satisfying finale! How many shows have managed that lately?

Buffy to slay her way back into cinemas
Another ‘re-imagining’ of cult character Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer should brace themselves for a cinematic “re-imagining” of the cult character, which producer Charles Roven describes as a “a completely new reboot”.… [From Buffy to slay her way back into cinemas]
At best this would seem to be unnecessary and I expect it will be a lot worse than that. Joss Whedon is not attached to the project in any way.

DVD Home Theatre repair
Time to replace the DVD unit in the home theatre again.
It was a quicker job this time. I didn’t lose any of my settings like region free or speaker delay. Successfully played my filthy rental DVD in time to return it for the next one 🙂

Sherlock
Sherlock, the modern update of the Conan Doyle character, ended its short first season (three feature-length eps) on a cliffhanger last night. I’ll be watching when it returns.

Misfits
Enjoying Misfits season 1 on Saturday. Missed it the first time round because I never heard of it. The DVD for the 2nd season is due out in December which means it will be on TV soon. Not long to wait after catching up with the first season.

SKY HD reboot part 2
The mechanical timer did the job but was a bit too noisy.
So I replaced it with this.
I shall find out tomorrow if I managed to program it correctly 🙂

SKY HD reboot
My SKY HD DVR needs to be rebooted every day or it develops issues like not recording things. To avoid the hassle of digging around in the cable mess behind the home theatre I plugged it into a RC socket so I could reboot it by remote control.
However remembering to do that every day was a bit of a pain so today I swapped in a timer switch to reboot the box at 6AM every day (a time I’m never recording anything at anyway). Lets see if I got that set up right 🙂

Luther & Fringe seasons end
Luther and Fringe both had their season finales on HD channels last night. Luther ended on a neat cliffhanger and Fringe had a typical JJ Abrams style twistiness (although I don’t know how much he actually contributed to the ep). Looking forward to the return of both – in the case of Luther that remains to be decided.
